MICROMONDI

A space to recalibrate proportions
in an expanding world dominated by the desire for grandeur.

Turns the lens around, investigating microscopic universes in balance. Projects of varying scales are always aimed at identifying an introspective and encompassing dimension of escape for the individual.

The values

Democracy in Design

Architectural and spatial design is inherently democratic, seeking to create political spaces that uphold the right to inhabit. Whether it’s open space, common areas within a building, or urban public spaces, the places are educational systems that encourages us to engage and relate with the social, vegetal, and animal environments.

Biodiversity

Designing spaces is also about imagining environments that will be shared not only by people but also by plant and animal species. It’s about allowing the voids left by human presence to be inhabited by living species, thus creating new ecosystems in our cities. In every project, biodiversity and environmental resilience are fundamental principles, guiding the creation of spaces that nurture life in all its forms.

Intersectionality

In our practice, it is essential to understand who will inhabit the spaces we create. This goes beyond accommodating different functions—it’s about designing spaces that can evolve, hosting diverse lives and continuous activities, fostering inclusivity. The concept of intersectionality challenges the architect to dismantle barriers and stereotypes, ensuring that every design considers multiple perspectives and needs. This approach fosters equality and inclusivity, making sure no one is excluded.

For me, architecture is a tool for developing more egalitarian spaces, cities, and countries for everyone. The Master’s Degree in Design for Development at PoliMi trained me to design in international contexts. I have worked in several countries, including Spain, Mozambique, and Congo (DRC), dealing with architectural design in fragile contexts, construction with natural materials, and urban planning in spontaneous contexts. I am passionate about photography, art, and visual representations.
